Support Educator Role
The role of a Support Educator at a Catholic school is to provide assistance to teachers in meeting the educational goals of students. As a key member of the teaching team, you will play a vital role in maximising student outcomes.
About the Role
* Assist with evaluating and assessing the learning needs of students under the direction of the classroom teacher.
* Work closely with students according to lesson plans given by the class teacher.
* Provide physical support to students where necessary and appropriate.
* Participate in planning days with teachers to discuss student needs.
* Support students with social/emotional needs by supervising them when time-out from the classroom is required; develop a close rapport with students to be a contact person if needed.
* Adhere to individual classroom rules and expectations as informed by the classroom teacher.
* Assist with in-class support programs as directed by the classroom teacher.
* Report regularly to the classroom teacher on student progress.
* Assist with group work in literacy block time if suitable for the year level and as directed by the classroom teacher.
* Keep records of student work sessions.
* Support teaching staff in supervising students with all concerns/problems referred to teaching staff for resolution as required.
Requirements
* Hold a valid Working with Children Check.
* Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education.
