Job Summary
This role involves working as a mental health professional within a multidisciplinary team, providing comprehensive assessment and treatment planning to support the diverse mental health needs of military personnel.
* Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals in a dynamic team environment
* Conduct risk assessments and develop management plans to mitigate potential harm
* Engage with ADF members at their initial intake and assess their presenting needs with flexibility and adaptability
* Develop case formulations and treatment plans tailored to individual requirements
* Promote programmatic treatment interventions that are evidence-based and effective
* Foster care coordination and collaboration with other services to ensure seamless support
* Deliver group psycho-education sessions to promote mental wellbeing and resilience
About the Role
This position is based at a health centre located on a large military base, serving over 5000 Defence Force members. The centre provides a range of medical, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, mental health, and pharmaceutical services, with a 20-bed low dependency ward operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Key Requirements
* Demonstrate exceptional personal integrity and ethical standards
* Hold current unconditional registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
* Minimum 2 years postgraduate experience in mental health, preferably in a primary health or specialist mental health setting, with expertise in comprehensive assessment and delivery of Focussed Psychological Strategies
* Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities aligned with AHPRA requirements
* Hold current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification
* Familiarity with relevant State/Territory policies and procedures, as well as national standards governing mental health practice (desirable)
* Knowledge of the ADF Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy (desirable)
