CASUAL FIXED-TERM POSITION - Opportunity Shop Assistant

We are seeking a reliable and community-minded Opportunity Shop Assistant to join our vibrant team at the Yarrawonga Community Opp Shop. This is a casual fixed-term position to provide much needed assistance and backfill for staff leave. This position supports the day-to-day operations of the Shop by providing exceptional customer service, supporting volunteers, managing donations, and ensuring the shop floor is welcoming, professional, and well-organised. Must also be willing to work Saturdays.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide warm, friendly and efficient customer service to all visitors and volunteers.
• Assist with stock preparation, sales displays and donation management.
• Maintain tidy and inviting retail displays, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
• Accurately process sales using cash register and EFTPOS systems.
• Support volunteers in daily operations and respond to enquiries.
• Assist with basic administrative duties and retail operations as required by the Coordinator.
• Contribute to a safe and inclusive environment, observing Work Health & Safety procedures.
• Actively participate in continuous improvement and team development.
The successful applicant will have:
• Demonstrated experience in a retail environment, preferably in a community-focused or not-for-profit setting.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, both face-to-face and over the phone.
• Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently in a busy retail space.
• A collaborative attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong computer and point-of-sale skills.
• A keen eye for presentation and attention to detail.
• Certificate II or III in Retail Services or equivalent experience (desirable).
Position Requirements:
• Current Police Check
• Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
• Current valid Driver's License
