This is a 3 month fixed term, part-time (0.54 FTE) position commencing Term 2, 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency. Avonvale Primary School (PS) is a small community-based school. We are beginning our journey of implementing the Berry Street Education Model across our school. Our staff receive quality professional learning and are supported as we develop, implement, and refine effective strategies that make a difference for our school community. The Role
We are seeking a highly organised and resourceful School Officer to join our administrative team. This is a key support role, providing essential services that help ensure the smooth and efficient running of the school.
The role includes acting as the first point of contact for the school, creating a welcoming and professional front office environment. You will be responsible for reception duties, including greeting visitors, answering the telephone, and responding to routine enquiries and information requests in an efficient and friendly manner. The successful applicant should have a friendly, positive, and caring attitude and possess the qualities to promote excellence within our school and interact with parents and the wider community.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the role include providing general clerical and administrative support, including preparing correspondence, newsletters, website updates, notices, distributing and collecting documents, forms, and mail, collecting and receipting monies, operating and maintaining office equipment, inputting data and generating reports, assisting with maintenance of school facilities, and supporting student-related activities such as maintaining attendance records and assisting with student enrolment procedures. The successful applicant will ideally have experience with a range of software packages, particularly databases and word processing. A knowledge of Kaartidjin, Compass, Student Information Systems (SIS) and RM Billing would be desirable.
The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the Manager of Corporate Services in the administration of the school\'s marketing, financial, physical, and human resources while upholding confidentiality and security of sensitive material. You should assist other members of the school administration team with maintaining school database records and management information systems to ensure they are accurate and up to date.
You should possess strong attention to detail and work well within a team environment. You will ideally have strong organisational skills and be able to deliver outcomes while working to deadlines in a sometimes challenging environment.
