The role
We are seeking a Principal Water Resources Engineer (Flooding) wishing to join an industry leader. You will work closely with our other specialists in the Water Resources team predominantly on Queensland projects, however you will also support the wider ANZ business.
SMEC's Water Resources team works across a diverse portfolio of projects including flood studies, flood mitigation projects, dam break and consequence studies, urban development stormwater management and irrigation. We have a solid pipeline of interesting and challenging projects and an excellent team culture where you will further develop broad capabilities.
With a minimum of15+ years' experience, your core responsibilities include:
* Provide leadership and proactively collaborate with the Flooding team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables
* Provide expert advice and demonstrate advanced technical skills, ensuring that analysis and design tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and the requirements of the client and SMEC
* Conduct flood studies and assessments including the impact of flood mitigation options.
* Expert in Hydrologic and Hydraulic modelling using 2D TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, RAFTS and RORB.
* Apply project management principles in carrying out assigned tasks and accomplish project deliverables to the required standard in atimely manner.
With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained your experience in an engineering design consultancy and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.
Suitable applicants will have/be:
* Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental Engineering and RPEQ
* Extensive experienced with a range of modelling software including TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, RAFTS and RORB.
* Some experience in GoldSim and Source (Bulk Water Assessments) would be ideal.
* Stormwater design (12D) experience is also a benefit.
* Scour and erosion assessments.
* A Minimum of15+ years' experience in design and management.
* Familiar with relevant Australian Standards.
* Be able to lead small teams to achieve desirable project outcomes
