Our Technology Division develops and executes all technical change across the organisation. The Core Banking team handles core application technology and operations across the bank. As a Staff Engineer, you’ll lead and promote continuous improvement, develop technical roadmaps, and improve solution quality by implementing best practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead, promote continuous improvement, develop technical roadmaps, and improve the quality of technical solutions by implementing industry best practices.
- Work closely with other technical leaders and product owners to document changes and drive initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with squad members, maintain a strong risk mindset and ensure appropriate security controls are implemented.
- Provide technical governance and guidance throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Act as a mentor, providing technical assistance to engineers and sharing expertise.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in large and complex enterprise environments, preferably in banking & financial services.
- Ability to work independently and promote a culture of quality, excellence and openness.
- Provided technical governance and guidance through the complete solution delivery lifecycle.
- Passionate about learning new tools and technologies, constantly thinking outside the box.
- Designed, documented, and implemented solutions to distribute source system data via bulk interfaces.
- Produced high‑quality technical solutions that are sustainable using approved delivery frameworks and industry best practices.
- Contributed to complex delivery planning by providing guidance and oversight to align technical deliveries with engineering direction and strategy.
- Cultivates constructive challenge of status‑quo while influencing stakeholders at various levels.
- Collaborates with peers and helps grow capabilities within the squad and across the crew.
Technical Skills
- Hands‑on experience with Mainframe, PL/1, DB2, and mainframe modernisation concepts.
- Robust core banking domain experience.
- Sound knowledge of REST APIs and the ability to create Open API specifications.
- Understanding of large‑scale distributed systems, microservices and REST API integration.
- Working knowledge of cloud technologies – AWS preferred.
- Understanding of DevSecOps tooling and practices.
- Experience or exposure to AI & machine learning is a plus.
