About the role: The Clinical Assessment Specialist will work with Deakin learning campuses and academic teams to coordinate the design and delivery of best practice clinical assessment, evaluation and feedback strategies across the major programs in the School, with a particular focus on Medicine. The Clinical Assessment Specialist has responsibility for working within teaching units across the Doctor of Medicine Program, School of Medicine, ensuring integration of assessment with campus-based/clinical learning and Unit Learning Outcomes. This role provides key leadership within the Years 1-4 MD assessment program, and contributes to the delivery of the early years and Programmatic assessment program within the MD. The role will also contribute to the assessment team in developing and implementing strategic directions for assessment across the School. The appointee will work alongside and report to the Senior Lecturer, MD Assessment Lead, and will be required to collaborate with other members of the assessment team, as well as other teams within the School, including academic and professional staff teams. As a Clinical Assessment Specialist, you will: Work alongside academic staff, Learning Campus and Clinical School educators to develop, implement, record, evaluate and refine assessment (including Workplace-based Assessment and clinical practice assessments) and evaluation practices Maintain knowledge of learning Units and work closely with Unit teams, ensuring integration of assessment with learning and Unit Learning Outcomes Support the design, implementation, collation and review of effective assessment management programs, utilising established software Apply knowledge of best practice to inform design, implementation and interpretation of assessment and evaluation Make a significant contribution to the development and delivery of Indigenous Health assessment activities, in consultation with the School’s Indigenous Health Professional Education Team Contribute to emerging School of Medicine reputation in educational or pedagogy research on assessment and/or evaluation Adopt and promote a culture of research excellence, innovation and impact Engage academics and clinical staff in assessment and evaluation, including through Communities of Practice and relevant Committees within the School of Medicine Support and promote staff and students to develop understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their history and culture, explore cultural difference and implicit bias, and empower culturally appropriate policy and practice To be successful, you’ll have: Masters in a relevant discipline or commensurate clinical or workplace experience Qualification and experience in clinical practice (e.g. medicine, nursing, allied health) within the last five years (desirable) Demonstrated knowledge and experience of clinical workplace-based assessment, including contribution to assessment development or review Demonstrated digital capability with capacity to support assessment coordination and capacity via online assessment platforms Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues Understanding of higher education environment, as demonstrated by previous experience: developing curricula; contributing to learning and assessment frameworks and/or resources; development, implementation and/or evaluation of assessments (desirable) Competence in developing and delivering Indigenous Health learning and assessment activities, in consultation with the School’s Indigenous Health Professional Education Team (desirable) Special Requirements This position may require the incumbent to travel domestically and/or internationally to attend conferences, events and to represent the university. Must have a Working with Children Check and a National Police Record Check, as per Recruitment Procedure.
