Overview
Note Due to operational requirements, you must live within 15 minutes of this location to volunteer with them. Dalwallinu Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service (VFRS) volunteers play a significant and vital role in helping to ensure our local communities are safe. Opportunities within the VFRS are available in operational and support roles, and you can choose to participate in one or many of the brigade's responsibilities according to your abilities and interests.
Volunteers can choose from a range of activities including:
* Responding to local emergencies, such as structure fires, bush and scrub fires, vehicle and industrial rescue, and hazardous materials.
* Working with the community to identify and manage local fire risk.
* Undertaking local fire prevention activities with the community.
* Working with residents to improve family and household fire safety.
Roles available
Some of the different VFRS roles you can choose include:
* Firefighting (structural and bush fire)
* Equipment maintenance
* Management of Hazardous materials (HAZMAT)
* Road crash rescue
* Administration
* Community safety and education

Commitment Regular - more than 6 months

Time Required
Time Required Dalwallinu VFRS welcome discussions around your time availability. Training is held Monday evenings with DFES training courses every 2-3 months where required. The VFRS encourages you to attend as many training sessions and incidents as your time allows.
