Our aim is to create a mentally healthier world for everyone. This role will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders with a focus on engaging with a wide range of youth, adult, lived experience, ATSI community, and professional healthcare stakeholders. The Product Designer will work across both new and existing digital products delivering intuitive, usable, and exceptional user experiences to those seeking to improve mental health.Duties & ResponsibilitiesKey Operational Responsibilities• Manage the end-to-end design of Institute products.• Design and develop user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.• Develop and maintain UI components, design rules, and documentation to ensure a cohesive and high-quality customer experience across multiple products and touchpoints.• Plan and facilitate co-design workshops to understand requirements and problem solve.• Deep understanding of business logic, balance user perspectives, and summarize and elaborate design solutions.• Flexibility and resilience to work through ambiguous situations constructively.Design Systems• Advocate for the implementation and usage of the Design System.• Collaborate with other designers, design researchers, developers, and stakeholders to gather requirements, understand design needs, and translate them into reusable components in design system (Figma).• Assist in developing and maintaining design system components, patterns, guidelines, and documentation.• Collaborate with design researchers to test components and ensure usability and accessibility compliance.Collaboration and Communication• Partner with teams across the Institute and external stakeholders to identify user needs, conduct user testing, and incorporate feedback to iteratively improve designs.• Communicate design decisions and rationale to a variety of stakeholders.• Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, communicating confidently and presenting in a clear, concise, and articulate manner to all.• Question assumptions, provide constructive feedback, and foster consensus to ensure the best outcomes for our users.• Work closely with the UX Researcher to prepare artifacts for research sessions as well as translate research findings into design.• Able to demonstrate a clear connection between an insight and design decision.• Report on findings to ensure stakeholders understand and are involved in design decisions.• Attend regular design critiques and collaborate closely with peer product designers to provide direct and impactful feedback, help develop team processes, and find opportunities to continuously improve Institute design practice.• Able to work and communicate with developers to ensure designs are built according to spec, providing instruction and support around interaction rules.Accessibility and Inclusivity• Have a demonstrated understanding of digital accessibility and creating inclusive experiences.• Understanding of WCAG and how to create designs that meet AA and AAA levels.• Advocate for human-centered copy and content within our products.• Collaborate with the Institute Lived Experience team to ensure a variety of perspectives and lived experiences are included in the product development lifecycle.Tools• Experience and proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Photoshop, and Illustrator.• Experience and proficiency in interactive demo software such as Protopie or similar.• Experience and proficiency in interactive workshop software such as FigJam, Miro, Mural, or similar.Skills & Experience Required1. Over two (2) years of product design experience, working across mobile apps and web products.2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to understand and explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.3. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities for different stakeholders while delivering client requests.4. Proficient in prototyping tools, e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Mural, or similar.5. Ability to communicate key insights to stakeholders and team members using a range of audience-appropriate techniques.6. Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.7. High level attention to detail, with proven time management and organisational skills, enabling effective performance under pressure and tight deadlines.8. Experience building component libraries for usability, familiarity, scale, and re-use on mobile products.9. Understanding and passion for mental health and research.10. Understanding and experience with WCAG Accessibility principles.11.
