About the Role
This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious and experienced Quality Controller. The Quality Controller is responsible for ensuring all service and repair work performed in the dealership's service department meets the highest standards of safety, workmanship and manufacturer guidelines. This role involves inspecting completed jobs, identifying quality issues and working closely with technicians, service advisors and management to maintain excellence in customer satisfaction and vehicle performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform detailed inspections of completed service and repair work to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) standards.
* Conduct road tests when necessary to verify the effectiveness of repairs and vehicle performance.
* Provide feedback to technicians on workmanship and guide corrective actions when issues are identified.
* Collaborate with service advisors to clarify job requirements and customer concerns.
* Monitor and report reoccurring issues or training needs to the Service Manager.
* Ensure proper documentation of all inspections and corrective actions.
* Maintain a clean and organised inspection area in compliance with safety regulations.
* Assist in maintaining manufacturer certification standards and audit preparedness.
* Support continuous improvement in service processes, technician development and quality control procedures.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree preferred.
* 3+ years of experience as an automative technician or in quality control role in a dealership or similar environment.
* In-depth knowledge of automotive systems, repair procedures and diagnostic tools.
* Familiarity with manufacturer standards and warranty procedures.
* Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
* Effective communication skills and the ability to give constructive feedback.
* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Skills
* ASE or OEM-specific certifications.
* Experience with dealership management systems (e.g. CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds).
* Knowledge of lean service processes and customer satisfaction metrics (e.g., CSI scores).
Working Conditions
* Work is performed in a service shop environment with frequent movement between service bays.
* Occasional lifting, standing and driving required.
* Exposure to loud noise, fumes and varying weather conditions.
