Job Overview
The Medical Records Department provides comprehensive clerical support to the trust in all aspects of patient records. The post holder will work within the Doncaster Hospital Medical Records office 30 hours a week Monday to Friday and will be responsible for storing approximately 1.9 million volumes of patient records across nine libraries on the three trust sites.
Main Duties of the Job
* Ensuring patients' casenotes are available at the point of care.
* Pulling and filing medical records using Terminal Digit Filing and location‐based filing systems and recording casenote transfers on iFIT.
* Locating, preparing (to a required standard) and delivering casenotes for outpatient clinics in accordance with departmental guidelines.
* Merging and amalgamating casenotes to ensure the correct and relevant volume is available at the point of care.
* Liaising with other departments, hospitals, GP practices and external companies to ensure data on Trust computer systems is correct.
* Ensuring casenotes are tagged and associated correctly and correcting any errors.
* Involvement in the culling of casenotes in line with the Retention Policy.

Person Specification Qualifications & Training Essential Criteria
* GCSE/O Level English or equivalent experience
Desirable Criteria
* GCSE/O Level Maths or equivalent
* RSA Level 1 keyboard skills or equivalent experience
Knowledge & Experience Essential Criteria
* Admin experience including filing and data input
* Responsibility for own workload
* Managing large volumes of work with deadlines
* Manual handling skills
* Observance of Trust policies on handling confidential information
Desirable Criteria
* Previous NHS or records experience
* Experience of working with Patient Administration Systems
* Filing systems knowledge
