Director of Public Prosecutions

Are you an experienced criminal lawyer that will help shape the future of the criminal prosecution service in the Northern Territory?

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is recruiting an experienced criminal lawyer and advocate as a Crown Prosecutor.

In that role your key responsibilities will include maintaining carriage of indictable criminal prosecutions, instructing and junioring in both Supreme Court trials and the Court of Criminal Appeal. This is a position for an experienced advocate who is able to conduct less complex jury trials, sentence and breach applications in the Supreme Court as well as appear in committal proceedings and contested summary prosecutions in the Local Court.

To be shortlisted it is essential you have been admitted or are eligible for admission as a barrister or solicitor of the High Court or a Supreme Court of a State or Territory of Australia, have experience in criminal law and advocacy, and can demonstrate knowledge and understanding of criminal law, Uniform Evidence Law and DPP Guidelines.

Excellent organisational skills combined with strong interpersonal and analytical skills will put you in good standing.

The rewards

In return, you will receive a competitive salary of $110,873 - $124,173, inclusive of 12% superannuation, six weeks recreational and three weeks personal leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, substantial career satisfaction, flexible work arrangements, and the opportunity to experience the uniqueness of living and working in the Northern Territory. Relocation assistance will be available.
