Telecommunications Line Worker Job Summary
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Telecommunications Line Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and upgrading telecommunications network infrastructure across copper, fibre-optic, and hybrid systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Installation & Construction of Networks: Install, assemble, erect, and secure telecommunications cabling, aerial lines, underground conduits, fibre-optic lines, and related network infrastructure.
* Setup and Alignment: Set up and align poles, supports, terminations, cabinets, pillars, joints, and distribution equipment.
* Cable Hauling, Splicing, Jointing, and Terminating: Conduct cable hauling, splicing, jointing, and terminating using industry-approved methods.
* Maintenance & Fault Repair: Locate, diagnose, and repair faults, breaks, interference, signal loss or degradation in copper and fibre systems.
* Technical Testing & Compliance: Use industry tools to test cabling, including OTDR, power meters, fusion splicers, TDR, and other diagnostic tools.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Strong understanding of telecommunications cabling, fibre, copper, aerial, and underground networks.
* Ability to perform jointing, splicing, terminating, testing, and fault-finding.
* Competence in reading and interpreting network plans, schematics, and design drawings.
* Ability to use industry tools such as OTDR, fusion splicer, testing meters, and cable hauling equipment.
