The Senior Social Worker – Palliative & Cancer Care provides psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention short term counselling interventions (individual and group) and complex psychological support to patients, carers and their relatives receiving both palliative and cancer services at Orange Health Service. As part of this role the successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead the development of social work services in the newly completed World Class End of Life Care Palliative Care Inpatient Unit. The unit is a dedicated palliative care space catering for patients, carers and families. Importantly the space has been developed with a focus on creating a cultural safe and sensitive space for Aboriginal and Tores Strait Islander people. The role is an integral part of the multidisciplinary teams across both cancer and palliative care services at Orange Health Service.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with both the Senior Social Worker – Psycho Oncology Counsellor and the Inpatient Senior Social Worker to provide psychosocial care.
The role provides social work services in both the inpatient and outpatient setting, enabling a continuity of service model for patients, carers and relatives. The palliative care component of the role will also enable the successful candidate to develop strong links with District Community Palliative Care Social Work Team, providing streamlined services across the inpatient and community setting.
As a Senior Social Worker position, there is an opportunity to apply your supervisory knowledge and skills and engage in the development of social workers in the practice areas of palliative and cancer care.
