Role Responsibilities
* Prepare estimates, cost plans and budgets
* Receive, record and compare subcontractor and supplier bids
* Provide recommendations to the General Manager regarding preliminaries, risk/opportunity, and margin allowances for tenders
* Compile tender summary sheets, including labour histograms, preliminaries, and detailed subcontractor/supplier quotation analysis
* Develop and maintain subcontractor and supplier relationships and database
* Prepare handover documents
* Supervise, train, and mentor cadets and junior estimators
* Negotiate with clients and consultants following submission of tenders and prior to acceptance
Role Requirements
* Minimum 5+ years’ local commercial construction estimating experience
* Associated tertiary qualifications
* Experience tendering on projects valued at $10 million and upwards
* Experience with Buildsoft / Cubit is advantageous but not essential
* Ability to estimate across all construction sectors would be advantageous but not essential
* Organised and detailed with a high level of accuracy
* Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
* Positive and professional attitude with the ability to collaborate with other staff
* Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
