Primary Purpose of the Role
The Canteen & Bar Coordinator plays a vital role in the smooth day-to-day operations of the Martens Oval canteen in Bundaberg - a key community hub during the football season.
This hands-on people-focussed role involves managing rosters, ordering stock, supporting new staff, and ensuring a safe, clean and welcoming environment for all visitors.
Ideal for someone with strong hospitality, organisational, and people skills, this is your chance to make a difference behind the scenes of local sport.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Stock Management
* Oversee canteen operations during game days and events
* Order stock and supplies within budget and based on weekly/event needs
* Ensure compliance with safe food handling and hygiene standards
* Monitor inventory and minimise wastage
* Coordinate supplier orders and delivery schedules
* Contribute to budget planning and canteen improvement needs
Rostering, Onboarding & Team Support
* Create and manage rosters for staff and volunteers based on event schedules
* Provide onboarding and training for new staff (equipment, safety, service standards)
* Deliver basic training in food safety, cash handling, and customer service
* Serve as main point of contact for all canteen-related questions and support
Key Eligibility Criteria
Essential
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work flexible hours, including Friday nights and weekends
* Hospitality, food handling, or customer service experience
* Confidence in leading and supporting a small team
* Basic budgeting and stock control knowledge
* Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
* RSA Certification
Desirable
* Previous experience managing a community venue or similar operation
* Familiarity with EFTPOS/POS procedures
