Families Together Case Worker (Central Coast/Wyong)

Support families to keep children safe at home
This role is ideal for practitioners who are passionate about trauma-informed, culturally safe, whole-of-family practice and working alongside families to reduce risk and strengthen safety.
The Role
Families Together Case Workers support a caseload of families who have met Risk of Significant Harm (ROSH) thresholds and are referred primarily by DCJ. You will work in family homes and community settings across the Central Coast LGA, delivering interventions aligned with the Families Together Framework and evidence-based frameworks such as Parents Under Pressure, Trauma Expressions and Connection Assessments (TECA) and Safe and Together, to support children safely at home.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: -
* Provide high‑quality, trauma‑informed casework and comprehensive assessment in a family preservation context
* Develop and deliver family‑led goals and safety plans
* Maintain fidelity to evidence‑based models
* Engage whole families, extended kin, and natural support networks
* Collaborate effectively with DCJ and relevant service providers (e.g. NDIS)
* Identify and escalate risk in consultation with the Families Together Team Leader
* Manage brokerage funds in line with organisational guidelines
* Maintain accurate and timely case notes and reports
* Participate in reflective supervision, group case reviews, and professional development
* Uphold child safety, cultural safety, ethical practice, and organisational values
About You – Essential Criteria:
* Bachelor degree in Social Work, Counselling, or Social Science
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in family preservation
* Demonstrated experience in complex case management and trauma‑informed practice
* Strong skills in whole‑of‑family engagement, including kinship and natural support networks
* Experience working collaboratively with Department of Communities and Justice and community partners
* Demonstrated commitment to culturally safe practice, particularly with First Nation children, families, and communities
* Experience or willingness to undertake training in and implement Parents Under Pressure, Trauma Expression and Connection Assessments and Safe & Together
* Capacity to work flexible hours within a 6am–8pm span
* Strong written communication and documentation skills
* High level use of MS365 (SharePoint, Lists, Forms and Outlook), and Client Management Systems
* Current National Police Check (issued within the last 6 months)
* Current Working with Children Check
* Possess a current HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid Qualification & CPR
* Hold a current driver’s licence and access to a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle
* Willingness to participate in supervision, training and development
* Ability to produce high-quality case notes, reports and written communication
* Demonstrated knowledge of Privacy and Confidentiality, Child Safe Standards, Child Protection, and WH&S legislation.
