About the opportunity
The Occasions of Care Explained and ANalysed (OCEAN) tool is an online data collection platform used to collect and analyse clinical activity data from primary health care clinicians. This is a national study of the clinical activity of nurses, physiotherapists and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Health Practitioners working in Australian general practice
This innovative research will involve data collection from general practice nurses, nurse practitioners, physiotherapists and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Health Practitioners - the first data collected on clinical activity for these professions in primary care in Australia. The resulting dataset will create an important evidence base to assess the contribution of these non-medical professionals to the wider general practice team.
This Research Officer position is a great opportunity for someone looking to start a career in primary care health services research. The successful applicant will support the OCEAN team primarily by ensuring basic data quality for data collected and will act as a key early point of contact for study participants.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
* assist with data collection and analysis, ensuring data quality and accuracy, including responsibility for cleaning of the datasets
* produce reports on the clinical activity of individual participants, and send these to participants
* liaise with individual participants about their involvement in the study and answering their questions
* assist the analyst team in maintaining data security and integrity at all stages of the project
* undertake basic analyses of the data
* collaborate with researchers, clinical specialists, and affiliated partners to share findings and progress
* assist with the documentation process for research publications, from drafting to submission, and maintain comprehensive research records
* coordinate with the team to verify data accuracy within university systems, and actively engage in compliance initiatives to uphold regulations
* contribute to the production of academic publications that arise from the study
* ad hoc duties as required under the project.
About you
* Bachelor degree level - Public Health, Nursing, Health Sciences, Psychology, Statistics, Biostatistics, Health Information Management and other disciplines also considered
* strong attention to detail - able to identify data errors through regular quality checks (data cleaning)
* demonstrated ability to be able to pick up new computer software systems easily
* basic level reporting and analysis of data
* excellent written and verbal skills to enable efficient and effective communication via phone and email
* excellent organisational and time management skills
* understanding of medical terminology is desirable (but not essential) for this role
* experience conducting scientific literary searches is desired
* able to operate in a research intensive team environment and independently as required.
