About The Role

As the Divisional Engineering Officer, you will oversee the operations and maintenance of engineering functions including water, wastewater (sewerage), roads, drainage, parks, gardens, airports, seaports, and other infrastructure assets of the Council. You will ensure a proactive approach to maintenance requirements and work towards the sustainability of the community and council infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

* Plan and organise daily tasks for engineering officers using staff work plans across engineering services.
* Ensure aerodrome inspections and maintenance are conducted according to Council procedures, CASA regulations, manuals, circulars, and guidance notes. Report defects and incidents promptly to the Airport Manager.
* Oversee the operation of water treatment plants, pumping stations, water storage lagoons, and associated equipment, ensuring compliance with regulations and manuals.
* Conduct routine inspections of engineering assets like water supply pumps, document findings, and report defects immediately.
* Manage sewerage pumping stations, treatment plants, and reticulation systems, ensuring adherence to environmental licenses and reporting breaches or incidents.
* Participate in training programs, provide instructions, and mentor engineering staff.

To Be Considered For This Position You Must

* Have supervisory experience.
* Hold a current 'C' class, Type 'Provisional', or higher Queensland Driver's license.
* Possess a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations, Civil Operations, or an equivalent trade qualification (e.g., Civil Construction, Waste Management).
* Possess a current Construction Industry General Induction Card (desirable).
* Be proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Have good organisational skills.
