Eye Health Nurse Co-ordinator - Ophthalmology
This role supports the delivery of high-quality patient care in the Outpatient Department at Broken Hill Hospital. The successful applicant will provide clinical leadership to achieve optimal outcomes for patients with ophthalmic conditions.
About the Role
* Provide clinical assessment, coordination and case management of outpatients in collaboration with Ophthalmology Consultants.
* Ensure the safe delivery of evidence-based patient-centered care, adhering to policy, hospital protocols and procedures.
* Develop and deliver education and training resources for nursing staff, providing direct clinical support and supervision.
* Liaise with the Nurse Unit Manager and team members to ensure effective communication regarding patient and clinic management.
Key Responsibilities
* Initiate, coordinate and evaluate continuous quality improvement projects to reduce clinical variation in patient care.
* Provide clinical support to Ophthalmology Registrars pre and post ophthalmic surgery.
* Partner with stakeholders and agencies to coordinate eye health services for Indigenous communities in the Far West Local Health District.

Selection Criteria
* Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APRHA).
* At least three years postgraduate nursing experience with two years of clinical experience in ophthalmic nursing.
* Postgraduate tertiary qualifications in ophthalmic nursing or working towards same with 12 months of commencement.
* Demonstrated evidence of contribution to clinical practice development, high-level written and verbal communication skills, organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to work effectively, independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
