As a
Utilities Manager / Advisor
you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful management and delivery of critical utilities infrastructure projects. You will be contributing to overseeing utilities risks, managing relationships with utility companies and optimising time and cost positions.
We are seeking a candidate with strong technical expertise in utilities management ideally having a civil background.
Our client specialises in all utility disciplines including electricity, water, wastewater, gas, and telecommunications, across a wide range of infrastructure projects. This is across both traditional and renewable technologies. There are a number of subject matter experts in each discipline in the company.
Can be based in Canberra or based remotely with site visits to the Canberra office.
Responsibilities and deliverables include:
* Prepare and manage the Utilities Strategy, including engagement and risk mitigation strategies along with utilities scope definition and change management.
* Provide advice on utilities scope and delivery with reference to the projects planning objectives, including design development and studies to support the government approvals.
* Provide high level technical advice on the viability of utilities treatments and delivery methodologies, including approval authority pathways, activity durations and construction footprints and assessment of options, based on risk to the project approvals.
* Manage and undertake engagement with key utilities stakeholders and related third parties.
* Attend Project meetings and other technical, engineering, planning, and design meetings to enable interface discussions with stakeholders.
* Assist with coordination, attendance and facilitation of briefings, workshops and site visits.
* Attend interface meetings with Government agencies, Commonwealth Government agencies and interface parties, the Project team and other relevant stakeholders.
* Assist to identify and manage Project risks and changes relative to third parties and interfaces including utility providers.
* Contribute to identification and tracking of commercial issues relative to utilities matters.
* Liaise closely with other members of the project team, and other staff and advisors across all areas.
* Provide knowledge sharing and mentorship of identified staff shadowing the position
Professional Capabilities / Technical Capabilities (Skills and Knowledge)
* At least 10 years' experience in major infrastructure project delivery with proven knowledge in strategic utilities management.
* Experience working in utilities management, particularly during design development in support of approvals, within a client-side role.
* Demonstrated understanding of the requirements of government in the delivery of a projects, including governance and reporting requirements at all levels.
* Proven ability to work effectively in senior leadership roles, within a broader integrated project team and to develop a positive, proactive and safety team culture and stakeholder relationships to ensure the successful delivery of the project.
* Demonstrated experience and capability working with key government stakeholders.
