Cromwell College was the first of the colleges established on the University of Queensland St Lucia Campus and was affiliated with the University of Queensland in the opening year, 1954. Currently the home to 248 students that generally range in age from 17 to 21, the College is deliberately capped as one of the smallest coeducational residential colleges within the University of Queensland. This is to ensure that the unique blend of adult freedom and necessary academic and pastoral support structures blend in a values based community environment. Cromwell College prides itself on its pastoral support afforded our residents, with key members of the executive team living on site, thereby providing a secure and nurturing environment as students embark upon or continue university study. 
About the role 
The Dean of Students is responsible for fostering the wellbeing, engagement, and success of all residents, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. As part of the Senior Management Team, this role leads pastoral care, student life initiatives, leadership development, and community building. 
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in education and a passion for student wellbeing and support. As a person of humility and modesty they will have the sensitivity to work with and effectively build empathy and relationships with all members of the College community. 
The role includes a competitive base salary, 5 weeks of annual leave and the option to convert base salary to fully maintained onsite accommodation. The hours are flexible and the preferred candidate maybe required to work evenings and weekends. 
Selection Criteria 
Qualifications 
Graduate qualifications (Bachelor’s Degree or higher) in a relevant discipline is desirable but not essential. 
Experience and skills 
Demonstrated leadership and management skills, empathy, integrity, and effective communication. 
Warm, approachable, highly relational, and model Cromwell College mission and values. 
Highly organized, credible, and respectful 
Able to build relationships across diverse backgrounds.
