Lifeline Australia is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee, establish to support the development of national suicide prevention services and Lifeline centres throughout Australia.

Lifeline Australia Ltd (LLA) is located in Sydney, with small teams of dedicated staff employed to lead funding and corporate relations activities, and to provide the design, technical infrastructure and governance services across Lifeline’s member network.

LLA recently embarked on an exciting transformation journey, guided by an ambitious strategic plan. The 2024-2027 Strategic Plan will see enhancements across services, technology and workforce to bring about better outcomes and a more accessible and flexible support system for help-seekers.

About the Role

As the Learning Design Lead, you will team lead two talented learning designers to create high-quality, digital learning content and blended programs. You’ll champion best practices in learner-centred design and drive innovation across our learning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

* Design and deliver learning solutions Lead the design, development, and implementation of high-quality blended learning programs, including eLearning, assessments, in-person facilitation guides, and other multimedia assets, ensuring alignment with adult learning principles, instructional design best practices, and compliance requirements.
* Support the integration and application of human-centered design Support learner research, work with UX teams to establish human centered learning methodologies and processes, building team capabilities, and ensuring all learning solutions are designed, tested, and refined based on learner needs, experiences, and measurable outcomes.
* Evaluate and improve learning impact - Use data and learner feedback to evaluate program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement. Support pre- and post-learning evaluation.
* Project manage learning design projects and LD team members - Manage the Learning Design team’s performance, workflow, and capability development. Oversee project planning, scheduling, and delivery using tools like Jira or MS Project, ensuring outputs meet quality, budget, and timeline expectations.
* Uphold design standards and innovation- Establish and maintain a learning design framework and standards to ensure consistency, accessibility, and engagement. Champion innovative, evidence-based design practices including microlearning, adaptive learning, and AI-enabled solutions.
* Collaborate and influence stakeholders - Partner with subject matter experts, UX teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to co-design learner-centred programs. Maintain strong relationships to ensure alignment with strategic goals, compliance needs, and seamless learner experiences

About You

* Deep understanding of human-centered design principles and methodologies
* Experience in learning design, instructional design, or related fields
* Proven ability to lead collaborative design processes and co-create solutions with subject matter experts
* Strong research and analytical skills with ability to translate insights into actionable design decisions and measure learning impact
* Proficient in tools such as Articulate 360, and multimedia tools e.g. video production, H5P, and familiarity working with Moodle
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences
* Strong project and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
* Committed to learner-centred design, accessibility, and inclusion
* Analytical thinker with a focus on continuous improvement and learning effectiveness
* Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
* Knowledge of the VET sector, including competency-based training and RTO compliance (desirable)
* Experience with design tools such as InDesign (desirable)
