Post-Doctoral Fellow in Superconducting Devices for Hot Quantum Measurements
This role involves conducting simulations, design, and experimental work on superconducting quantum devices to perform quantum-noise-limited measurements at elevated temperatures (> 1.5 Kelvin). This position aims to develop new devices and techniques that facilitate signal detection from microwave quantum technologies (with a focus on quantum computers) at higher temperatures, enabling their use in significantly more affordable refrigeration systems.
The successful applicant will report to Associate Professor Jarryd Pla and have no direct reports.
* Salary: $110,059 to $117,718 per annum + 17% superannuation
* Full time
* Fixed-term contract – ASAP start until March 2028

About UNSW:
UNSW is a large, research-intensive university with a diverse and talented community; a community doing extraordinary things. We are driven to be thoughtful, practical, and purposeful in all we do.
The UNSW School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications (EE&T) is one of the largest and most prestigious schools of its kind in Australia. In the last 70 years, our school has grown from a purely teaching institution to one that has made important contributions to the development of electrical engineering in Australia and globally.
Key Requirements:
* PhD in Physics, Quantum Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related area.
* Demonstrated track record in the operation of quantum devices/quantum hardware, especially at microwave frequencies and millikelvin temperatures.
* A demonstrated track record in the fabrication and/or operation of superconducting quantum devices is advantageous.
* Demonstrated track record of performing microwave measurements on quantum devices and characterisation of their performance.
* Demonstrated track record of operating dilution refrigerators and variable temperature insert (1.5 Kelvin) systems.
