Exciting Opportunity for a Project Engineer in Telecommunications Sector
An experienced Project Engineer is required to deliver Defence projects in Townsville. The role involves working closely with clients and supporting construction teams to efficiently deliver construction works within a timely manner, ensuring optimal profitability for projects encompassing structural, civil, electrical, and mechanical aspects with a strong focus on quality.
About the Role
The role is responsible for delivering commercially successful projects, managing scope, program, cost, and commercial activities while fostering professional relationships and maintaining a safe, healthy, and environmentally conscious workplace.
* Forecast and plan detailed construction works in accordance with the Program of Work.
* Review scope of work to ensure the team is aware of contractual obligations and timelines, driving the construction program to meet the agreed schedule for the region.
* Determine construction methodology, processes, plant and equipment needs, sequencing of trades, safety, and compliance.
* Contribute to project quality development, including technical aspects, risks, and contingency plans.
* Engage with stakeholders (internal and external) and manage subcontractors, including variations.
* Prepare regular project reports, especially related to quality, NCR, defects, etc.
* Identify cost minimization strategies and implement measures to reduce labour, plant and equipment, materials, and transportation costs.
* Seek opportunities and drive continuous improvements.
Required Skills and Experience
A tertiary qualification in construction, engineering, or quality surveying is essential, along with a diploma in Project Management (preferably). The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar position, demonstrate sound technical abilities, and possess strong communication skills.
* Tertiary qualification in construction / engineering / quality surveying.
* Diploma in Project Management (preferred).
* Telecommunications experience (desirable).
* Understanding of project controls and principles in a construction environment.
* Strategic thinking skills, anticipating issues, and addressing them before they become major problems.
* Solid skills in Microsoft suite, CAD, and SAP.
* Innovation and ability to identify opportunities.
* Current driver's license and construction white card.
* Able to work flexible hours and travel inter/intra-state when required.
