Task & responsibilities
- Assist in running the day-to-day kitchen duties
- Prepare, season, and cook different foods as per the menu and customer orders.
- Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
- Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc).
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene.
- Communicate orders of equipment or ingredients according to identified shortages.
- Receiving, storing, stock segregation, and keep records of foodstuffs used.
- Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently.
- Use methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing cooked food with utensil.
- Portion, arrange and garnish food, and place in different platters.
- Supervise and manage junior cooks and kitchen staff.
Qualification & experience
- The right to work in Australia
- Certificate III in commercial cookery in relevant field or have extensive work experience as a cook focused in Indian culinary/cuisine
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience
- Have the ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- A passion for excellent quality food, produce and service
- Be reliable, punctual, and hard working
- Have strong communication skills
- Be able to maintain kitchen procedures and WHS standards
