Crisis Support Worker
At St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland, we are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of those in need. As a Crisis Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing end-to-end support to clients who have experienced homelessness or are at risk of homelessness.
This rewarding role involves working closely with clients to assess their needs and develop personalized plans to address their housing and support requirements. You will also work collaboratively with other agencies and service providers to ensure that clients receive comprehensive care and support.
A key focus of this position is the provision of assistance to adults with complex needs to increase skills and improve overall quality of life. This may include:
* Providing advocacy and support to help clients access safe, affordable, and stable accommodation
* Developing and implementing plans to improve client outcomes, including addressing barriers to housing and employment
* Working with clients to build confidence and self-esteem, and to develop skills and knowledge to sustain current and future tenancies
To be successful in this role, you will require:
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Minimum Certificate III in Community Services or related field
Knowledge of and ability to work within relevant legislation and guidelines relating to the delivery of specialist homelessness services
Previous experience as a Support Worker or equivalent within the homelessness support sector or related field
Ability to deliver advocacy on behalf of clients and maintain confidentiality of client information
Effective communication and time management skills
Demonstrate genuine respect for all people regardless of their situation
Understanding of risk management principles, including current WHS legislation and regulations
Commitment to the philosophy of St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland and an ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society

This is a permanent, part-time position (22.8 hours per week) based in Cairns.
