Offer description

The Opportunity

At APA, our purpose is to secure Australia's energy future. We're not doing it alone. We're doing it with our customers and communities as Australia's energy infrastructure partner, a role our unique experience and expertise positions us to play.

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Commercial Manager – Pre-Contracts to join us in our Infrastructure Delivery team in Perth, Brisbane, or Sydney on a full‐time basis.

This team leads the commercial and contracting strategy that underpins the successful delivery of APA's major infrastructure and growth projects.

Reporting to the Head of Contracts & Supplier Strategy, you will play a key role in leading the development and execution of pre‐contract commercial strategies, driving procurement processes, and negotiating complex contracts that enable balanced, delivery‐focused outcomes across APA's project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the development and execution of downstream commercial and contracting strategies across major infrastructure projects, from early engagement through to contract award
* Establish downstream contracting frameworks with appropriate, deliberate and clear risk allocation that are aligned with APA's upstream commitments
* Lead complex commercial negotiations to deliver balanced, practical agreements that enable projects to be delivered safely, on time, and within budget
* Drive contract risk assessment and governance, ensuring risks are identified, quantified, and aligned with approved strategy prior to execution
* Partner with multidisciplinary teams (development, sourcing, legal, delivery) to shape procurement strategies and commercial outcomes
* Lead a team of commercial and contract specialists, building capability and shaping the next generation of commercial leadership

Your background

* Strong commercial acumen and deal judgement, with a proven ability to structure outcome‐focused agreements through an interest‐based lens
* Deep understanding of construction/infrastructure contracts in a real delivery context, not just theoretical contract knowledge
* Demonstrated experience developing procurement and contracting strategies, including tendering, contract models, and risk allocation approaches
* Proven track record in negotiating high‐value, complex contracts with confidence and credibility
* Strong capability in identifying, analysing and managing commercial and contractual risk across the project lifecycle
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to operate effectively across technical, legal and commercial teams

About The Team

Contracts and Supplier Strategy builds strong internal and external relationships to devise sustainable contracting arrangements that enable APA to be the partner of choice in delivering infrastructure solutions for the energy transition.

We support the delivery of energy infrastructure projects across Australia by providing expert commercial and contract services across gas transmission and storage, gas powered generation, and power.

It is an exciting time to join the team as we provide a core capability in the delivery of APA's portfolio growth and asset transformation. We need people who are courageous, nimble, and ready to make an impact.
