The Opportunity
At APA, our purpose is to secure Australia's energy future. We're not doing it alone. We're doing it with our customers and communities as Australia's energy infrastructure partner, a role our unique experience and expertise positions us to play.
We have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Commercial Manager – Pre-Contracts to join us in our Infrastructure Delivery team in Perth, Brisbane, or Sydney on a full‐time basis.
This team leads the commercial and contracting strategy that underpins the successful delivery of APA's major infrastructure and growth projects.
Reporting to the Head of Contracts & Supplier Strategy, you will play a key role in leading the development and execution of pre‐contract commercial strategies, driving procurement processes, and negotiating complex contracts that enable balanced, delivery‐focused outcomes across APA's project portfolio.

* Establish downstream contracting frameworks with appropriate, deliberate and clear risk allocation that are aligned with APA's upstream commitments
* Lead complex commercial negotiations to deliver balanced, practical agreements that enable projects to be delivered safely, on time, and within budget
* Drive contract risk assessment and governance, ensuring risks are identified, quantified, and aligned with approved strategy prior to execution
* Partner with multidisciplinary teams (development, sourcing, legal, delivery) to shape procurement strategies and commercial outcomes
* Lead a team of commercial and contract specialists, building capability and shaping the next generation of commercial leadership
Your background
* Strong commercial acumen and deal judgement, with a proven ability to structure outcome‐focused agreements through an interest‐based lens
* Deep understanding of construction/infrastructure contracts in a real delivery context, not just theoretical contract knowledge
* Demonstrated experience developing procurement and contracting strategies, including tendering, contract models, and risk allocation approaches
* Proven track record in negotiating high‐value, complex contracts with confidence and credibility
* Strong capability in identifying, analysing and managing commercial and contractual risk across the project lifecycle
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to operate effectively across technical, legal and commercial teams
