Overview
This position is on-campus, hybrid remote, or other UNCC workplaces.
The Senior Small Business Specialist will be based in the SBTDC Charlotte Region Center with standard hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday, and occasional evening and weekend hours as necessary.
Pay and Schedule
Pay Rate: $43,647-$62,858
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (preferably in business) and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or MBA.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Having worked in Federal, State and Local Governments contracting environment with medium-size businesses; CFCM, CPCM or APMP certifications are a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities
Consultation
– Independently manages client portfolio, evaluates complex issues, and provides consultation based on expertise.
This includes direct client contact in one-on-one meetings and via telephone and written communications.
Substantial time must be dedicated to researching, preparing materials, and recommending courses of action.
Provides advice and technical assistance on complicated, sensitive, and unique problems.
Professional Knowledge
– Maintain expert knowledge of program policies, procedures, technology, and best practices related to growth and management of businesses; analyze and communicate implications to stakeholders.
Information Analysis / Decision Making
– Assess and resolve client issues using financial information and other documentation; develop action plans and apply sound judgment.
Communications
– Promote the SBTDC across the multi-county area; represent at meetings and conferences; develop promotional materials; establish relationships with referral sources and client groups; represent the program nationally among industry and peer associations.
Program / Project Administration
– Ensure attention to detail and deadlines; maintain confidentiality; complete reports accurately and timely per SBTDC policies.
Leadership
– Work with minimal supervision; assess needs and benefits of relationships; apply sound judgment; manage multiple assignments; organize work and priorities; demonstrate strong problem assessment and research skills.
Health Plan Eligibility
Special notes regarding eligibility for the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP): non-permanent employees working 30+ hours per week for three months or more may be offered HDHP enrollment within 30 days of eligibility.
Employees working less than 30 hours per week or designated as variable-hour workers are measured during designated periods for HDHP eligibility.
Temporary hourly workers (FTE eligibility based on >30 days and cumulative FTE 0.75+ or full time) are offered HDHP; temporary salaried workers (full-time) are offered HDHP.
