Executive Director, People and Culture – CHQ overview
Our client, Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CHQ), is a specialist statewide hospital and health service dedicated to caring for children and young people from across Queensland and northern New South Wales. CHQ delivers world-class services through clinical care, research, advocacy and education, with a collaborative culture focused on safe, high‑quality, person‑centred care that supports healthier futures.
The Executive Director, People and Culture will be a key member of CHQ's Executive Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Health Service Chief Executive. This is a high‑impact portfolio leadership role, responsible for shaping and leading CHQ's people strategy, culture, workforce transformation, and legal functions.
You will oversee human resources, industrial relations, safety and wellbeing, leadership development and legal services, ensuring alignment with CHQ's organisational strategy. Importantly, you will foster an inclusive, values‑driven culture, support executive colleagues in delivering exceptional outcomes, and champion Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health equity.
We are seeking a highly experienced, values‑driven leader with:
* A strong track record in human resources, organisational development, workforce strategy, health and safety, or legal leadership within complex environments.
* Demonstrated success leading large, multi‑disciplinary teams through transformational change.
* Advanced expertise in workforce planning, employee relations, and developing evidence‑based people and culture frameworks.
* Exceptional communication, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
* A collaborative and courageous leadership style that inspires, motivates and drives cultural excellence.
