We are seeking experienced Maritime Safety & Compliance professionals based in multiple states across Australia. These roles sit within a high‑tempo operational environment responsible for the safety governance, compliance, audit, and incident oversight of a fleet of vessels operating across Australia's coastline, rivers, bays, inlets, and territorial waters.
You will contribute to the governance and assurance of maritime operations conducted in complex and regulated environments, with responsibilities spanning safety frameworks, compliance assurance, investigations, and operational guidance. Depending on experience, roles may include technical specialist responsibilities or supervisory leadership of teams delivering maritime safety and compliance outcomes.
* Opportunities exist across VIC, NSW, QLD, SA, WA, NT and other coastal locations.
* Hybrid and flexible working arrangements may be available, subject to operational requirements.
Your new role
* Provide maritime safety and compliance oversight
* Implement and maintain Maritime Safety Management Systems (SMS)
* Lead and participate in audits, assurance activities, and compliance inspections
* Coordinate and manage incident reviews, investigations, and corrective actions
* Ensure adherence to Australian and international maritime regulatory frameworks
* Support and manage certifications, endorsements, and qualification records
* Provide authoritative advice to operational crews and senior stakeholders
* Build strong working relationships with regulators, internal teams, and external partners
* For supervisory roles: lead, mentor and coordinate small teams delivering safety and compliance outcomes.
What you'll need to succeed
You will bring experience in maritime safety, compliance, or regulated fleet operations, ideally within government, defence, border protection, or similarly high‑risk operational environments.
* Strong understanding of Australian and international maritime safety legislation
* Experience conducting or supporting audits, inspections, or assurance activities
* Exposure to incident investigation frameworks and safety reporting
* Effective stakeholder engagement across operational and regulatory environments
* Sound judgement, clear communication, and a risk‑based mindset
* Previous supervisory or leadership experience (desirable, not mandatory)
* Defence Clearance
