* Annual Base Salary $142,838 (HEW Level 9) plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading.
* Working within Macquarie University's Research, Innovation and Enterprise team
* Based at Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde

The role of Business Development Manager, Bio-innovation, supports the University's research and innovation initiatives. The role requires deep subject matter expertise in biotechnologies, and a capability to apply these skills in the University environment to secure research partnerships.

About the Role

As Business Development Manager, Bioinnovation, you will leverage your subject matter expertise related to the University's bioinnovation research agenda (encompassing STEMM and HASS capabilities across biology, biotechnology, engineering, information science, economics, ethics and governance) to engage with the University's research teams and trusted partners in academia, industry and government. You will drive research engagement using deliberate planning and execution with relevant industry partners and play a leading role in pursuing, securing, and supporting industry- and government-driven research projects alongside applicable research teams.

This role offers the opportunity to catalyse research activities with national and global impact.

Key Responsibilities

* Research, evaluate and develop partnership and investment opportunities related to the University's strategic and research interests, with an emphasis on opportunities with bioinnovation-related industry partners.
* Provide advice to shape the University's strategic and research interests aligned with bioinnovation sectors.
* Proactively engage with external organisations to identify and secure new market, partnership, and investment opportunities with bioinnovation-related industry partners.
* Secure support from internal and external stakeholders for strategic projects and new initiatives related to the University's research objectives.
* Build high quality collaborative partnerships, alliances and networks to further the University's strategic interests.
* Plan and provide support to manage new relationships, initiatives, projects, partnerships and innovative opportunities domestically and internationally.
* Employ project management practices to deliver outcomes through leadership, planning, collaboration, participation and cooperation.
* Facilitate the timely processing, approval, contracting, commencement, and completion of bioinnovation-related research partnerships, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as appropriate.

The Business Development Manager (Bioinnovation) will work as part of Macquarie University's Research Innovation and Enterprise team to engage with the University's research teams and trusted partners in academia, industry and government to drive research engagement using deliberate planning and execution.

About You

You have a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges within bioinnovation and strategic research partnerships, along with hands‐on experience driving business development within research‐focused ecosystems. In addition, you will have:

* A postgraduate degree in a technology or a scientific domain is desired, or, experience in senior roles in a bioinnovation-related industry or equivalent sector.
* Experience in business development, particularly in research ecosystems.
* Proven ability to develop and secure strategic partnerships.
* Exceptional communication skills and experience preparing research project proposals and/or tender applications.
* A collaborative approach and demonstrated ability to develop and sustain effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including senior management, senior academic researchers, legal and other professional services colleagues and external organisations in Australia and internationally.
