ABOUT THE POSITION
The Business Support Officer will oversee the 24-hour operation of the newly built Bundiyarra Regional Aboriginal Community Kinship Stay facility. Responsibilities will include the provision of quality service to guests, supervising staff, managing financial performance, planning, participating in the budget process and reporting on outcomes as required by the Accommodation Manager.
The Business Support Officer will support the Accommodation Manager with the local Advisory Group, local community groups and other stakeholders including the Department of Communities and be responsible for overseeing all day to day operations of the BRACKS.
This also includes interacting and liaising with guests, identifying those in need of further support and requiring the assistance of the Aboriginal Liaison Officers who are available to interact with guests.
The Business Support Officer will provide guidance, mentoring, support and supervision to the administration and general staff, cleaners and night porters and also attend to HR matters and learning opportunities for staff to ensure the service meets the guests' needs.

ABOUT BUNDIYARRA REGIONAL ABORIGINAL COMMUNITY KINSHIP STAY - BRACKS
The Bundiyarra Kinship Stay will address the need for additional accommodation in Geraldton by providing pay-per-stay accommodation for Aboriginal people who visit Geraldton to access services, or participate in business, educational, cultural or family activities.
They are designed to be safe, culturally appropriate and affordable, and have the capability to connect guests to local services. It will be a welcoming place that will be drug and alcohol free.
The Bundiyarra Regional Aboriginal Kinship Stay - BRACKS will:
* Provide Aboriginal people and families with safe, culturally appropriate, and affordable short-term accommodation options
* Help improve the wellbeing of Aboriginal people by enabling family groups to remain together while travelling; as well as facilitating access to essential services and support, and training and education opportunities.
* Help prevent potential rough sleeping and overcrowding
* Boost job creation, Aboriginal employment opportunities and economic activity.
Bundiyarra has been awarded the BRACKS Management Tender for 4 years and have partnered with MercyCare who are currently managing the Broome, Derby and Kalgoorlie-Boulder Aboriginal Short Stays. MercyCare will provide learnt experience, guidance, mentorship and capacity building to the GASSA team and Bundiyarra to ensure excellence in service delivery, contract management, capacity building of the Corporation and business mentorship to guide Bundiyarra on this journey of growth.
Bundiyarra will anchor the facility in local identity, governance, and cultural leadership. We will ensure the service reflects availability to surrounding communities and language groups and acknowledge mobility across country for the need for culturally safe spaces beyond city services.
The service will embody collective care, kinship, and shared responsibility. We will ensure visibility and prioritisation of cultural safety in service delivery. Our vision for managing this service on behalf of the communities in our region is that the BRACKS will be a place that evokes healing, unity, and cultural belonging.
Bundiyarra will ensure that the BRACKS is a culturally safe, trauma-informed space where Aboriginal people and families can rest, reconnect, and restore wellbeing. Grounded in kinship, Country, and community, the facility supports short term transitions with dignity, respect, and cultural integrity. It is a place of healing, belonging, and strength.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Support the Accommodation Manager with the daily operation and delivery of the Service Contract with the Department of Communities.
* Assist in developing the Operational Plan and Budgets for the BRACKS service
* Coordinate day to day operations of the BRACKS including rostering ensuring staffing levels align with budgets and business requirements.
* Oversee all financial functions and liaise with corporate office to ensure accuracy and timeliness of these processes.
* Manage and maintain the administration of reservations, cancellations, and no shows in line with the Service policy.
* Ensure faults or maintenance issues are attended to and reported to the Accommodation Manager if service delivery is disrupted.
* Ensure maintenance procedures are followed and escalated appropriately.
* Ensure all health and safety checks are completed on time.
* Responsible for evacuation in cases of emergency, acting as first point of contact for the team, guests and emergency services.
* Report security issues to the Accommodation Manager
* Provide leadership, supervision and support to administration and general staff, cleaners and night porters, ensuring they perform to high standards.
* Organise training and development programs.
* Ensure a high level of customer service to the guests
* Proactively handle guest concerns and complaints.
* Extend professionalism and courtesy to guests at all times
* Ensure guests comfort and safety
* Liaise with Aboriginal Liaison Officers employed by Bundiyarra
* Liaison with the Department of Justice over meals and laundry service
* Provide reports to the Accommodation Manager as required
* Assist in the design and implementation of policies and procedures
* Promote the service to all stakeholders
* Undertake other duties as assigned by the Accommodation Manager

SELECTION CRITERIA
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
* Relevant qualifications or experience in Business, Community and/or Human Services
* Demonstrated experience in Aboriginal accommodation coordination /management.
* Demonstrated ability to work with and communicate in a culturally safe manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
* Commitment to ensure consistent provision of service and communication to internal and external stakeholders.
* Good computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Officer applications.
