Process Operator (weighbridge)
At Wilmar Sugar & Renewables you will be responsible for the correct weighing of all cane entering the weighbridge. The position is based at Kalamia Mill in North Queensland's Burdekin region, known for its stunning landscapes, rich agricultural heritage, and vibrant community.
This seasonal role requires working on a rotating shift schedule, and some overtime may be required.
Key Responsibilities
* Start of the Mill: Control the first station in the mill, ensuring cane is moved from the bins to the milling train in a regular fashion.
* Link to the Grower: Maintain cane consignment data so the correct grower is paid for the correct cane and keep records of scheduled weighbridge test weights.
* Mechanical Reasoning: Troubleshoot issues with the automated sequence of bin‐handling machines to ensure the mill continues tipping bins.
* Housekeeping: Maintain excellent housekeeping practices of fixed plant around the weighbridge; assist in scheduling cleaning of the weighbridge.
* Collaboration: Communicate effectively with Cane Supply & Transport and Laboratory teams.
* Communication: Provide regular and accurate feedback to Mill management on station performance and quality issues.
* Training: Be willing and able to achieve relevant sugar‐milling module competencies.
Qualifications and Skills
The successful applicant must be a strong communicator who can work alongside a range of different people. Bonus points for applicants who have basic mechanical skills and high‐risk work licences such as Confined Space and/or Working at Heights (training provided for the right person).
