Description About the role: As part of the Cyber Security Engineering & Assurance portfolio, the Cyber Engineering Specialist will use their experience to identify and assess key cyber threats to the business and support the design and implementation of effective security controls across both cloud and on-premises environments. Your work will help strengthen the organisation’s cyber defences and reduce overall risk exposure. Reporting to Senior Leader, Cyber Engineering & Assurance, you will function as a subject matter expert in cyber security assurance across a wide range of business-led ICT projects supporting the People First Bank merger program and ongoing operations. Key Responsibilities: Engage with business stakeholders to stay informed of new systems and cloud platforms, and assess their impact on the organisation’s cyber security and risk posture. Serve as a key contact for cyber security assurance activities across the business. Develop and maintain technical hardening guidelines. Conduct cyber security reviews of business change activities. Contribute to the execution and continuous improvement of activities within the cyber security strategy. Assist in the evaluation, design, and implementation of security technologies and approaches. Identify gaps or misalignments with industry frameworks such as NIST, ASD Essential 8, and MITRE ATT&CK. Communicate security issues and risks clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Support and mentor team members within the Cyber Security function and broader Technology teams. Actively contribute to the improvement of cyber assurance processes. Contribute to the organisation’s emerging DevSecOps capability. Proactively identify risks and recommend actions to avoid, mitigate, or accept them, while promoting a strong risk-aware culture. About you: The ideal candidate has a strong track record of tracking emerging threats, with a strong focus on cloud technologies, and communicate their relevance in simple terms to business stakeholders and leadership. You are seen as a trusted partner, providing guidance and support to help teams meet their cyber security obligations throughout solution delivery. You provide assurance over the deployment of a greenfield technology environment, including the build-out of a new Microsoft 365 tenancy, adoption of Zscaler services, and deployment of modern cloud-native platforms such as OpenShift. Knowledge and Experience: Extensive industry experience in Cyber Security or Information Technology domains. In-depth experience with cloud platforms and controls in environments such as Azure, Entra ID, M365, AWS, Salesforce, and Mulesoft. Understanding and hands-on experience with cloud network security solutions including CASB, WAF, DKIM/SPF/DMARC, and SSL. Strong production support experience in an enterprise or corporate security environment, with working knowledge of server, desktop, and network concepts. Self-starter with the ability to manage and deliver multiple objectives concurrently from concept through to implementation. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills with high attention to detail and a focus on data quality and accuracy.
