Operations Manager – The Tin Shed

Full-time | Port Douglas, QLD

The Tin Shed, Douglas Community & Sports Club Inc., is an iconic waterfront venue known for its relaxed coastal atmosphere and strong community values.

We are seeking a highly capable and motivated Operations Manager to lead our operational performance, support our leadership team, and uphold the high standards our venue is known for.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager will oversee the daily operations of our restaurant, bar, gaming, and event functions. This is a senior leadership role responsible for maintaining operational efficiency, driving service standards, and supporting the continued success of our community-owned venue.

Key responsibilities include:

Leadership & Team Management

- Supervise and support the management team across FOH, BOH, bar, and gaming.
- Lead recruitment, training, onboarding, and performance reviews.
- Foster a positive, motivated team culture.

Operational Coordination

- Manage daily operational flow across all departments.
- Coordinate communication between FOH and BOH to ensure consistency and service quality.
- Resolve customer feedback and maintain high service standards.

Menu & Product Management

- Collaborate with BOH and FOH leadership to design, update and refine menu offerings.
- Maintain product quality, purchasing standards, and supplier relationships.

Forecasting, Ordering & Budget Management

- Conduct forecasting for stock, staffing, and operational needs.
- Oversee ordering, inventory controls, contracts, and expenses.
- Work within budget guidelines to maintain financial efficiency.

Compliance & Safety

- Ensure compliance with all liquor licensing, safety, hygiene, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a protected working environment and uphold venue standards.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Proven experience in hospitality operations or venue management.
- Strong leadership experience, including management of supervisors or department managers.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A commitment to quality, service excellence, and maintaining a positive team culture.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced venue with high seasonal fluctuations.
- Current RSA and RSG certificates (mandatory).

Pay: $90,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
