About the Team
Our Coles Liquor team, working on Liquorland with a network of more than 990 stores and online sites, is committed to providing accessible drink solutions for every occasion. Reporting into the Category Buying Manager, we have an exciting role within the Beer Category for an Assistant Category Buying Manager to join our team. You will work closely with the Category Buying Manager and will be accountable for supporting growth of profitable category sales, maintaining strong supplier relationships and supporting the customer-centric category strategy.
What you’ll be doing
- On a day-to-day basis you’ll be responsible for trade and promotional planning, leveraging commercial analysis to drive these areas.
- Develop strong supplier relationships to effectively partner and execute goals.
- Gain data-driven insights to shape the promotional and trade plans in the category.
- Own the promotional program for a set category.
- Assist in the execution of the category’s pricing, promotion, range selection and layout development.
- Assist in management of key processes for the assigned category including marketing brief and sign-off on content and accuracy.
About You And Your Skills
We are looking for a candidate with a strong commercial acumen, experience working within an FMCG and/or retail environment and solid knowledge of the merchandising function and processes. You’ll also need:
- Strong organisational skills and ability to plan ahead to support the category’s unique needs.
- Prior experience with promotional and trade planning.
- Industry knowledge within Liquor is highly desirable.
- Exceptional stakeholder management with the ability to work closely and influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience applying this to interpret industry dynamics and the competitive retail landscape.
- Strong analytical skills demonstrated through proactively sourcing customer insights and data to formulate category recommendations.
- Experience working within cross-functional teams to manage and execute projects.
Please note this is a 12-month maternity leave contract.
