Are you an experienced Automotive Technician ready to step into a leadership role while staying hands‐on in the workshop?
We're looking for a motivated and highly skilled Senior Workshop Leader to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading by example, mentoring technicians, and maintaining high workshop standards while still being heavily involved on the tools.
This position offers the perfect balance of:
70% hands‐on mechanical and diagnostic work
30% workshop leadership and operational support
You'll work closely with the Branch Manager to help drive productivity, quality workmanship, team development, and a positive workshop culture.
About the Role
As a Senior Workshop Leader, you will:
Perform advanced diagnostics, servicing, and repairs across a wide range of vehicles.
Support workshop efficiency, workflow coordination, and quality control.
Mentor apprentices and junior technicians.
Assist in maintaining a safe, organised, and high-performing workshop environment.
Act as a key link between management and the workshop team.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Duties
Carry out diagnostics, repairs, and servicing to a high professional standard.
Identify and resolve complex electrical and mechanical faults.
Complete work within allocated labour times.
Accurately document vehicle findings, required parts, and repair recommendations.
Conduct quality control inspections and final checks.
Maintain workshop cleanliness, safety, and organisation.
Provide technical guidance and support to other technicians.
Leadership & Workshop Support
Assist with daily workshop workflow and scheduling.
Support productivity and efficiency targets.
Help manage quality control and minimise rework/comebacks.
Mentor and train apprentices and junior technicians.
Support team development and workshop performance.
Assist with stock control and workshop organisation.
Step into the Branch Manager role when required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Trade qualification in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (Cert III or equivalent).
5+ Years automotive industry experience.
Strong diagnostic capability across mechanical and electrical systems.
Proven leadership or mentoring experience within a workshop environment.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast‐paced environment.
Current driver's licence.
