The Role

Reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting and Treasury, the Assistant Director, Administered Financial Reporting is responsible for the preparation, analysis and assurance of administered financial information. The position is accountable under limited direction for performing complex financial reporting work, with a primary focus on administered financial reporting in accordance with relevant legislation, frameworks, and Australian Accounting Standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Leading the preparation and delivery of administered financial reporting, including monthly reporting, year‐end processes, and financial statements.
* Assisting in the preparation of the Agency's annual financial statements, with a focus on administered items, and coordinating audit processes with the Australian National Audit Office.
* Preparing high‐quality financial analysis and reconciliations to ensure the integrity of financial information. Identifying, investigating, and resolving financial discrepancies, risks, and issues.
* Contributing to the development, documentation, and maintenance of internal controls, policies, and procedures to strengthen financial governance and audit readiness.
* Preparing a range of written materials including briefs, reports, and correspondence.
* Supporting stakeholder engagement by liaising with internal and external stakeholders to provide advice on financial issues.
* Mentoring and guiding junior staff and contributing to a positive team culture focused on accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Education

* Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Commerce (Mandatory)
* Completed professional qualifications, or in progress to complete (CA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent) (Mandatory)

Eligibility

* Citizenship – to be eligible for employment with the Department, you must be an Australian Citizen or, in limited circumstances, in the process of obtaining it.
* Security Clearance – the successful candidate is required to hold, or have the ability to obtain, and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
