About This Role

* Lead performance reporting and data insights for Aboriginal Youth Justice initiatives, ensuring culturally safe, evidence-informed practices that support policy reform and community partnerships.
* Collaborate with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and key stakeholders to deliver accessible visualisations and insights.
* Apply strong analytical skills across diverse contexts to support long-lasting Youth Justice reform.

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is responsible for the statutory supervision of children and young people in the criminal justice system

Aboriginal Youth Justice (AYJ) works in partnership with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs), communities and other stakeholders to reduce the overrepresentation of Aboriginal children and young people in the justice system.

The Opportunity

* Fixed, full-time position until 30 June 2027 based in Melbourne.
* VPS Grade 5 role: $113,022 - $136,747 per year plus superannuation.
* Lead, support and promote business/system improvement activities regarding best practice data collation, process development, quality assurance, governance and reporting/Business Intelligence tools.
* Generate existing and develop new, comprehensive, easy to understand, data reports as required. Reports will require analysis of extracted data to inform the identification of trends, patterns and issues relating to organisational performance.
* Prepare submissions, ad-hoc reports and briefings to managers and senior executives relating to system planning, emerging trends and other strategic issues relevant to the operation of an efficient and effective Youth Justice system.
* Work collaboratively with operational areas to identify emerging trends and issues impacting policy and organisational performance, including the review of performance measures and targets.

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have

* Demonstrated experience in reporting, assessing or monitoring organisational, system or outcome performance.
* Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Excel and Business Intelligence applications such as Power BI, as well as the ability to use data to build clear narratives, visualisations and insights that tell a story.
* Demonstrated experience in presentation and communication of quantitative and qualitative information to a range of audiences.
* Demonstrated experience in the interpretation of complex, ambiguous data and the proactive and independent analysis of the same.
* Desirable: experience in SQL programming and script writing, or the ability to acquire such skills to a high standard, quickly.

Qualification
A tertiary qualification in quantitative analysis, statistics, economics, information systems, commerce or similar discipline, that demonstrates an understanding of quantitative data collation, reporting, monitoring and analysis. Demonstrated appropriate and relevant work experience can be substituted for listed qualifications
