This position is with the Northern Territory Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) Program - Centre for Disease Control. As a Nurse Clinical Specialist, this role is responsible for the education and support of individuals and their families related to Acute Rheumatic Fever (ARF) and RHD during hospital admissions, cardiology outreach visits and in planned primary health care activities. It provides clinical education across a variety of settings to health care providers on prevention, early diagnosis and best practice management of ARF and RHD. Responsible for processing notifications and must possess attention to detail to maintain relevant patient details on the NT RHD Register. The successful applicant will have an understanding of public and preventative health, primary health care (especially in the remote setting) and be experienced in providing health education and patient care in a family-focussed and culturally appropriate manner. The position requires a willingness to travel by light aircraft to remote communities to assist in cardiology outreach trips for the purpose of client, family and staff education
