This is a part-time, non-benefited position.
Part-time faculty are eligible for 25% NWCCD tuition discount for the employee during the semester teaching.

This is an ONGOING recruitment. Our adjunct faculty application is open to all disciplines. We accept part-time faculty applications all year long; when a department or division has a need to fill, they refer to the "pool" of part-time faculty applications on file. Although we may not have an immediate opening, we practice ongoing recruitment to attract exceptional faculty who have experience successfully teaching both in the classroom and online. We also plan to expand our course offerings at a growing number of partner campuses. We are actively recruiting exceptional faculty to teach in many disciplines

* Provide high-quality instruction in accordance with the approved course outline of record.
* Participate in general faculty functions related to the educational program and faculty development activities including assessment of student learning outcomes (SLOs).
* Assignments may include day, evening, fully online, hybrid (partially online) and/or weekend courses.
* Part-time, temporary, hourly assignments are on an as-needed basis. Part-time faculty meetings are conducted the week prior to the semester start. Course outlines of record, student learning outcomes to be assessed, and department policies will be provided or reviewed.
The Hospitality/Tourism Instructor will teach hospitality and tourism courses and may include emphasis on food and beverage service and event planning, advise hospitality and culinary students and support recruiting efforts.
In addition, the faculty member will provide academic counseling and guidance to students and actively recruiting students into the Culinary Arts and Hospitality/Tourism programs.

Qualifications
Reports To Dean of Career & Technical Education Education/Qualifications
The successful candidate must meet one of the following criteria: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
* Associate's Degree or higher in content area from an accredited college or university; OR
* Bachelor's degree in content area from an accredited college or university OR
* Master's degree in a related field; OR
* A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of items above. (Applicants applying on the basis of equivalency must complete all Equivalency questions on their application in addition to all other required materials)
* Industry and teaching experience, preferred
* Preferred Certifications: TIPS Trainer, Certified Restaurant Server, Certified Hospitality Educator, Certified Food and Beverage Executive
* Ability to teach hospitality concepts and assist directly in student learning
* Effective skills in student-centered learning
* Ability to use a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist student learning
* Ability to use technology and develop learning activities in an online, hybrid or web-enhanced environment
* Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
* Ability to design and improve on hospitality curriculum
* Possess excellent interpersonal skills
* Ability to work in a team with shared responsibilities and agreed upon objectives
* Competent with modern technology for education and office applications
* Ability to communicate high expectations for learning and attain high-level student performance
* Skilled in the discipline of hospitality management and event planning with keen attention to detail
* Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with external constituents
* Knowledge of hospitality/tourism management
* Knowledge of event planning strategies and techniques
* Knowledge of Pro-Start and other related industry supported curriculum
* Knowledge of the community college mission
* Familiarity with other hospitality industries, beneficial

Job Duties

Percentage of time 100% Responsibility/Duty
Instruct classes as assigned. Participate in general faculty functions related to the educational program and faculty development activities. Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses or online. Use of Canvas as a Learning Management System (LMS) is required for all courses. Applicants must have a laptop computer with reliable access WIFI. Faculty must adhere to NWCCD's Canvas Course requirements while ensuring demonstrable and documented regular effective contact with students.
