Technical Writer Job Summary
Norton Gold Fields seeks a skilled technical writer to support safe, consistent, and high-quality maintenance practices for mobile equipment fleet.
* This role involves creating and maintaining accurate, user-friendly documentation including standard operating procedures (SOPs), safe work instructions (SWIs), technical bulletins, job plans, and training resources.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, write, and edit SOPs, SWIs, job plans, and other maintenance documentation for mobile fleet operations
* Collaborate with technical experts to capture process steps, safety controls, tools, and best practices
* Review and revise documentation after incidents, engineering changes, or process updates
* Format documents using company templates to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance
* Maintain document control, version history, approval workflows, and metadata in accordance with site standards
* Align documentation with risk assessments, isolation procedures, and legislative requirements
* Create user-friendly guides, graphics, and quick-reference tools to support training and competency programs
* Participate in toolbox talks, field walkdowns, and rollout meetings to ensure practical adoption of procedures
* Support audit preparation by providing document control evidence and compliance traceability
* Identify outdated documents and coordinate timely updates with relevant stakeholders
Requirements and Qualifications
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
* Diploma or degree in technical writing, engineering, communications, or related field
* Minimum 3 years' technical writing experience in mining, heavy industry, or engineering environments
* Understanding of statutory and OEM documentation requirements (DMIRS, AS/NZS ISO standards)
* Knowledge of mobile equipment maintenance practices (CAT, Komatsu, Liebherr preferred)
* Experience with document control systems (e.g. SAP DMS, SharePoint) and CMMS platforms (e.g. AMT, SAP PM)
* Current WAC Class Driver's Licence
