As a Staff Data Engineer with expertise in software development and a passion for building data-driven solutions, you’ll be part of a team of engineers going above and beyond to improve the standard of digital banking and solve customers’ most complex data-centric problems using the latest tech.

What you will hear from us
- You possess commendable experience in driving cost‑effective and technically feasible solutions, steering solution decisions across the group to meet operational and strategic goals.
- You provide thought leadership and contribute to the design of technical solutions and consumption patterns, including data security and data management.
- You are responsible for technical governance, implementation, risk management and adoption for programs of work.
- You provide technical leadership and mentor other engineers in Agile teams delivering project work or initiatives.
- You educate, communicate and coordinate with different internal stakeholders and consultants.
- You have experience delivering data‑driven solutions sourcing data from various enterprise data platforms into AWS Cloud Big Data environments, using technologies such as Spark/EMR, MapReduce, Athena/Hive, Sqoop, Kafka; transform data to produce data assets and move to other platforms like Teradata or RDBMS (Redshift).
- You have experience building effective Big Data and Data Warehouse frameworks, capabilities, and features using programming languages such as Scala, Java, or Python, with data quality and security controls.
- You design, build and deliver optimized enterprise-wide data-driven solutions in the Cloud to build various enterprise data platforms on AWS using S3, EMR, Glue, Iceberg, Athena, Kinesis or MSK/Kafka; transform data to produce data assets for Redshift / PostgreSQL and DocumentDB / MongoDB.
- You are confident in building group data products or data assets from scratch, integrating large sets of data from hundreds of internal and external sources.
Technical skills
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. Experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team.
- Experience in designing, building, and delivering enterprise-wide data ingestion, data integration and data pipeline solutions using Scala, Java, or Python in a Big Data and Data Warehouse platform.
- Experience in building data solutions on Hadoop platforms using Spark, MapReduce, Sqoop, Kafka and ETL frameworks for distributed data processing and storage (HDFS Parquet, ORC, JSON, etc.).
- Experience in building data solutions using AWS Cloud technologies (EMR, Glue, Iceberg, Kinesis, MSK/Kafka, Redshift/PostgreSQL, DocumentDB/MongoDB, S3, etc.).
- Ability to produce conceptual, logical and physical data models using data modelling techniques such as Data Vault, Kimball, 3NF, etc.
- Expertise in design patterns (FSLDM, IBM IFW DW) and data modelling frameworks including dimensional, star and non‑dimensional schemas.
- Strong Unix/Linux shell scripting and programming skills in Scala, Java, or Python.
- Proficient in SQL scripting, writing complex SQLs for building data pipelines.
- Familiarity with data warehousing and/or data mart build experience in Teradata, Oracle or RDBMS systems is a plus.
- Certification on Cloudera CDP, Hadoop, Spark, Teradata, AWS Data Practitioner/Architect.
