We are seeking Emergency Physicians to join Tamworth's team of young, skilled, passionate and dedicated emergency specialists to deliver services to Tamworth Hospital. Located on the land of Kamilaroi/Gomeroi/Gamillaray people, Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital is the second largest hospital in HNE Health and the key referral hospital for much of the north‐west region of HNE Health. The newly redeveloped hospital opened in 2015 with state‐of‐the‐art facilities across emergency, maternity, paediatrics, theatres, intensive care, and coronary care, medical and surgical specialities, with 348 treatment spaces.
The hospital has five operating theatres currently in operation and is supported by a modern Cancer Centre, sophisticated diagnostic services, along with comprehensive community and outpatient services. Tamworth's mixed adult/paediatric ED is busy and diverse, an interesting mix of approximately 45,000 presentations per year with 25% admission rate and 30% paediatric case load. The ED has dedicated areas for resuscitation, acute presentations, ambulant and fast track presentations, paediatrics and an Emergency Short Stay Unit. Tamworth is home to a locally based helicopter retrieval service and is the only NSW regional trauma centre north of Newcastle. Our focus is on providing excellence in patient care, training and education and promoting a cohesive team culture.
We are in the enviable position of seeing a large variety of cases including the critically ill and injured whilst still having time for enjoyable and meaningful interactions with patients and staff. You will be well supported by your FACEM colleagues and an impressive nursing team with vast experience in emergency medicine and clinical support staff.
