We are looking for an experienced, strategic Buyer to join our team and help shape the future of womenswear at Target.
What Will You Do?
- Build and trade a department range/business group that delivers strategy, vision and financial KPIs.
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to create assortment plans that drive sales and profitability, in line with Target’s values.
- Report to the Business Manager and handle resourcing, costings, flow and product availability.
- Execute end‑to‑end critical path to ensure launch dates are met.
- Translate customer insights and market trends into architecture and option plans.
- Establish a clear pricing architecture and balance fashion, quality and style to drive transaction growth.
- Collaborate with the Planner to ensure the option framework achieves financial KPIs and brief the design team on the framework.
- Build and optimize assortment plans to drive sales and profitability.
- Partner with external stakeholders locally and internationally to enhance market share and deliver a point of difference.
- Develop department strategy with explicit focuses in collaboration with the Planner.
- Own and deliver the product range from development through to store execution.
- Identify opportunities and implement actions derived from trade analysis.
- Partner with the Planner to develop tactics in response to trading results, including managing an accurate reforecast process.
- Leverage customer insights and data to optimise sales.
- Proficiency across all Target Merchandise Systems relevant to the role.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Tertiary qualification in commerce, business or retail (or related field).
- At least 4 years’ experience in Buying/Design/Product Development in a specialty retail environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a supplier and sourcing strategy.
- Experience implementing merchandise strategy and trading within seasonal cycles.
- Solid understanding of the total retail landscape and excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
- Capability across Merchandise Systems.
- Knowledge of relevant compliance legislation and guidelines.
- Digital/online buying experience is highly advantageous as Target accelerates its digital strategy.
