Position Title: Disability Support Worker

Position PurposeThe Disability Support Worker (DSW) plays a vital role in empowering participants to live independent, meaningful, and fulfilling lives. This role involves providing high-quality, person-centred support in line with individual support plans, promoting choice, dignity, and rights, and supporting participants to achieve their personal goals within the NDIS framework.
Key Responsibilities
Participant Support & Daily Living
* Provide personal care assistance including showering, toileting, grooming, dressing, and continence support.
* Support participants with medication administration in accordance with policies, training, and individual care plans.
* Assist with daily living activities to build independence and life skills.
* Support community access and participation in social, recreational, and skill-building activities.
Health, Safety & Wellbeing
* Monitor participants' physical and emotional wellbeing and promptly report any changes, incidents, or concerns.
* Follow all manual handling, infection control, hygiene, and workplace health and safety procedures.
* Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment for participants.
Support Plans & Documentation
* Implement and follow individualised support plans, including Behaviour Support Plans (BSP), Occupational Therapy (OT) reports, and Mealtime Management Plans.
* Complete accurate and timely shift notes, progress notes, and incident reports in line with organisational and NDIS requirements.
Household & Meal Support
* Assist with meal planning, grocery shopping, and meal preparation while adhering to dietary requirements and mealtime management guidelines.
* Support participants with household tasks as required.
Communication & Teamwork
* Communicate effectively and respectfully with participants, families, team members, supervisors, and allied health professionals.
* Participate in team meetings and mandatory training to support continuous professional development.
Essential Requirements
* Certificate III or higher in Individual Support, Disability, or a related field (or willingness to obtain).
* Experience supporting individuals living with disabilities (preferred).
* Ability to work a rotating roster including mornings, evenings, weekends, sleepovers, and public holidays.
* Current First Aid and CPR certification.
* Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check.
* Current Australian Driver's Licence.
* Strong communication skills and a commitment to person-centred, rights-based support.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Working with children check (WWCC)

Job Types: Part-time, Casual
Pay: $37.00 – $47.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 38 per week
Education:
* Certificate I - IV (Preferred)
Experience:
* Disability Support Work: 1 year (Preferred)

* NDIS worker screening check (Required)
