What's the role?
We are looking for a strategic and commercially minded Head of Media Delivery & Content Protection to lead the evolution of our content delivery and protection ecosystem.
This role owns the strategic direction of our App, Web, and CDN delivery platforms while providing technical product leadership across Media Systems. You will operate at the intersection of Technology, Product Performance, and Content Security, ensuring premium user experiences are delivered securely and at scale.
A core focus of the role is partnering with Content Licensing, Commercial, and Legal teams to define and execute our Content Protection strategy. You will co-lead the roadmap for our Protect Our IP initiative—defending premium content against emerging threats such as AI harvesting, piracy, and unauthorised distribution.
While your Technical Product Managers (TPMs) drive execution across App/Web and CDN platforms, you will provide end-to-end strategic oversight, ensuring delivery performance and security controls (e.g. bot management, WAF, geo-restrictions, telemetry) operate as a unified system aligned with global standards and local operational excellence.
Responsibilities
You will orchestrate the Media Delivery function across our web and mobile platforms, ensuring seamless, premium viewing experiences. Working closely with the Content Licensing team, you will integrate content protection measures—such as bot detection, DRM, usage tracking, and access controls—into the delivery ecosystem without compromising performance.
You will balance the technical demands of high-performance delivery with the commercial necessity of protecting our revenue.
People & Team Leadership
* Technical Product Leadership: Lead and develop a team of Technical Product Managers who own execution roadmaps for App and Web delivery platforms, Akamai CDN and bot management, and Content Protection tools and SaaS platforms.
* Content Protection Partnership: Partner with the Content Licensing team to co-define the Content Protection strategy and roadmap. Translate business protection requirements into technical implementation plans executed by your TPMs, including evaluating and deploying solutions for AI defence, piracy prevention, usage telemetry, and copyright enforcement. Engage specialist contractors where required.
* Strategic Oversight: Foster a culture of proactive roadmap definition, moving from reactive ticket-handling to strategic platform evolution. Ensure Content Protection initiatives are balanced with delivery performance goals across Product, Digital, Legal, and Commercial stakeholders.
Commercial Strategy & Vendor Management
* Vendor Governance: Own relationships with key edge partners (e.g., Akamai), lead QBRs, and hold vendors accountable to performance metrics.
* Procurement Partnership: Collaborate with Procurement and Finance to lead RFI/RFQ processes and build technical business cases that justify global spend and influence contract negotiations.
Strategic IP Protection & Implementation
* AI-Driven Threat Defence & Content Protection Technology: Execute the \"Protect Our IP\" roadmap by evaluating and implementing defences against next-generation bots, validating whether incumbents or challenger vendors provide the best protection against AI harvesting.
* Revenue Protection Technology: Work with Content Licensing teams to deploy telemetry solutions (e.g., Breadcrumbing, Usage Dashboards) to track and monetise unauthorised corporate usage.
Who are you?
You are a Senior leader capable of managing \"technical savvy\" engineers while navigating complex stakeholder landscapes
* Influential & Strategic: Able to align global technology strategy with local execution, influencing stakeholders across Finance, Procurement, Legal, and Product
* Collaborative Operator: Skilled at translating cross-functional needs into clear technical direction—balancing protection, performance, and user experience
* Commercially Astute: Experienced in RFIs, vendor selection, and building business cases that link technical decisions to revenue and cost outcomes
* Technically Fluent: You understand the nuance of Mobile App integration (SDKs),WAF rules, and Edge Compute. You can validate your team's technical solutions and challenge vendors on their technical claims.
* Content Protection Advocate: Deep awareness of DRM, anti-piracy, and AI-driven threats, with the ability to set governance and standards in a rapidly evolving landscape
