About this position
The City has four libraries in Thornlie, Gosnells, Southern River and Beckenham. The Library Service is part of the Leisure and Culture Branch that includes the City's aquatic and recreation centre Leisure World, Don Russell Performing Arts Centre and Heritage Services, including the Wilkinson Homestead Museum.
We are seeking a skilled librarian to oversee the provision of library services, resources and activities, ensuring high-quality service and support to the community. This role involves supervising a diverse team of up to 10 permanent staff plus casuals, managing day-to-day operations, maintaining branch collections and supporting the Coordinator Library Services in strategic initiatives.
The City's Library Service is open seven days per week. Applicants must be available to work evenings and weekends as required.

* Proven experience in a library services role
* Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team
* Strong customer focus with the ability to build positive relationships within the team and community
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage effectively technical and administrative challenges
* Highly organised with the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
Essential requirements
* Current National Police Clearance (less than three months old). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition
Desirable requirement
* Qualification related to library services or equivalent
