After becoming a PCO, you may be able to progress to a supervising police custody officer (SPCO) role.

Supervising police custody officer roles
SPCOs oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations of a team of PCOs.
You will be a valued member of the local police team. You will also play a crucial role in the management and welfare of persons in custody.
As part of this role, you will:
* supervise and coordinate the day-to-day operations of a team of PCOs
* monitor the quality PCO services
* oversee the health, wellbeing, safety and supervision of persons in custody
* carry out prisoner management functions for more complex prisoners
* monitor, supervise and undertake administrative and personnel functions
* provide leadership, mentoring, performance management and coordination of training activities
* give evidence in court when required.
Supervising PCOs are stationed at 17 locations around Victoria.
Work hours
PCOs work across 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
SPCO shifts depend on local requirements.
